Kezzeme festival
The Kezzeme festival takes place at the end of the dry season each year (March). The Orisino divsion of the Acipu climb up Korisino (Karishen) mountain for a beating festival. Older boys and youths are beaten by younger boys, and the transition from beater to beaten is an important part of becoming a man. The beating is followed by individual war dances between veterans. The commentaries below were provided by Markus Mallam Yabani. Alternative commentaries by Mohammed Mallam are also available.
