Language resources
The following resources are available through this website:- Cicipu lexicon/dictionary
- The recent orthography proposal (also available in Hausa). At an orthography workshop held in April 2010 this proposal was validated by approximately 170 members of the Cicipu community.
- translated stories and other texts
- published folktales written in Cicipu
- a small number of videos, some with subtitles (under development)
- Windows keyboards to help with typing Cicipu
The following Cicipu cassettes are available (email for further information):
- Songs recorded at the Roo'o festival of the dead
- Songs sung by Gajere Kuyama, Ige Gajere, Rahi Umar and Tani Kuyama, all speakers of the Tirisino dialect
- Songs sung by members Inguwar Ali church, speakers of the Tirisino dialect
- A collection of folktales in the Tirisino and Tidipo dialects
- An interview on local history with Yabani Galadima, a speaker of the Tirisino dialect
- An interview on local history with Garkuwa Bawa and Moolu I'danbanya, both speakers of the Tikula dialect
One folktale book exists, but only a very limited run was printed since no orthography had yet been agreed by community representatives. Now that this has been done (April 2010), further publications are planned in the near future.
Finally, a small number of Saber MP3 players containing ten hours of spoken word and songs are currently being trialled in the field.
