Language resources
The following resources are available through this website:- Cicipu lexicon/dictionary
- a recent orthography proposal (a Hausa translation will be available shortly)
- a number of stories and other texts
- a small number of videos, some with subtitles (under development)
The following Cicipu cassettes are available (email for further information):
- Songs recorded at the Roo'o festival of the dead
- Songs sung by Gajere Kuyama, Ige Gajere, Rahi Umar and Tani Kuyama, all speakers of the Tirisino dialect
- Songs sung by Tontono Danjuma and other women and girls from Galadima village, Korisino, while beating down a new compound floor for newlyweds.
- Songs sung by members of Tikawa church, speakers of the Tirisino dialect
- A collection of folktales in the Tirisino and Tidipo dialects
- An interview on local history with Yabani Galadima, a speaker of the Tirisino dialect
- An interview on local history with Garkuwa Bawa and Moolu I'danbanya, both speakers of the Tikula dialect
One folktale book exists, but only a very limited run was printed since no orthography has yet been agreed by community representatives. There will hopefully be further developments after the orthography workshop planned for March 2010.
Finally, a small number of Saber MP3 players containing ten hours of spoken word and songs are currently being trialled in the field.
