Korisino and the king's palace

The king of the Acipu.
The king (right) and the Mallu, his senior advisor (left). The Mallu is the king's constant companion and advisor, rarely leaving his side.
Elders at the palace. Even village chiefs must remove their hats, shoes, and shirts in the presence of the king. Traditionally they would be wearing a loincloth, but nowadays it is acceptable to roll up one's trouser legs past the knee. Left to right: Nahuuce, Gizo, and Amaale.
The king's palace on Korisino, built on the highest point of the mountain.
Many rocks on Korisino have strange pockmarks. Legend has it that they are bullet-holes caused by enemies attacking Korisino.
View from the highest point of Korisino. The boy is Tambaya, a child from the Mallu's (advisor) family.
Baobab tree on Korisino. The lines in the valley are rows of cut guineacorn - this picture was taken in December 2007 after the harvest. If you look on Google Earth, then there is an area of very high-definition just to the east of Korisino, where these lines can clearly be seen.
